What drives the price
Two suits can carry the same number and be entirely different objects. Knowing where the money goes is the only way to compare quotes in Bangkok meaningfully — and this city gives you no shortage of quotes to compare.
The cloth
Usually the largest single variable, and it can swing a quote more than any other choice. A serviceable tropical-weight wool and a fine Super 150s from Loro Piana or Zegna are not close in cost. Neither is a mistake — one is for a suit you will wear weekly, the other for a suit you will wear at a wedding.
Worth knowing: the Super number describes how fine the wool fibre is, not how good or how cool the cloth is. Super 100s–130s are robust, hold their shape and take daily wear. The construction
The invisible one, and the reason most price comparisons in Pratunam are meaningless. A fully canvassed jacket has a floating horsehair layer stitched in; a fused jacket has interfacing glued to the cloth. Fused is substantially cheaper and quicker, stiffer to wear, warmer in the heat, and in Bangkok humidity the adhesive eventually fails and the lapel bubbles.
If one quote is dramatically lower than another, this is usually why. Ask which you are being quoted for — the answer tells you more than the number does.
The hand-work and the fittings
Hand-finished buttonholes, a hand-padded lapel roll, a hand-set collar. Each is time, and time is most of a tailor's cost. None of it changes how a suit looks on day one; all of it changes how it looks in year three. A quote with one fitting and a quote with three are not the same offer.
Five questions that make two quotes comparable
Ask any two tailors the same five things and the prices become directly comparable:
1. Is the jacket fused, half-canvassed or fully canvassed?
2. What does the cloth weigh in grams, and which mill is it from?
3. How many fittings are included, and what does another cost?
4. Is the body lined, half-lined or unlined?
5. What happens if it does not fit properly once I am home?
A tailor who answers all five plainly is telling you something useful regardless of the number at the end. One who deflects is telling you something too.
Where to economise, and where not to
Worth economising on: the mill. A mid-range cloth in the right weight and weave will serve you better in Bangkok than a prestigious name in the wrong weight. Also the number of pieces — order two shirts, wear them, then order the rest.
Not worth economising on: construction and fittings. A fused jacket saves money once and costs you the garment. Skipping the fitting saves an afternoon and produces a suit you never reach for. The cheapest suit is the one you wear.
A second pair of trousers
The single best-value decision on this page. Trousers wear out roughly twice as fast as the jacket, so a spare pair effectively doubles the life of the suit for a fraction of its cost. If you are buying one business suit, buy it with two trousers rather than buying a second suit later.

How much is a custom suit in Bangkok?
A custom suit at G.Armani Suit starts from ฿7,500 for a two-piece and ฿9,900 for a three-piece, with most clients spending between ฿15,000 and ฿30,000 once cloth is chosen. Premium mills sit above that band. The figures above are starting points for each garment type rather than a single fixed price, because cloth is the largest variable and it is your choice. Two to three fittings are included in every price on this page, so the figure you plan around is the figure you pay at collection. What affects the price of a tailored suit?
Three things move the price, in this order: the cloth, the construction, and the amount of hand-finishing. Cloth is the biggest single factor and ranges from house fabrics to premium Italian mills. Construction means half canvas or full canvas, which changes how the jacket holds its shape over years. Finishing covers hand-stitched details, lining choice and buttons. The number of fittings does not affect the price, because two to three fittings are included in every garment we make. What does not move the price is haggling, since the figures are published rather than decided after we have read you.
Do you quote before starting work?
Yes — we quote before anything is cut, every time. You choose the cloth in the shop, we confirm the construction and the finishing details, and the price is agreed before the pattern is drafted. There are no charges added afterwards for the fittings, because two to three fittings are part of the price. If a change you request mid-order affects the cost, we tell you at the time rather than at collection. A written quote before cutting is one of the few checks a visitor to Bangkok can realistically apply, and you should ask any tailor here for one.
Are fittings and alterations included in the price?
Two to three fittings are included in the price of every garment we make at our Pratunam shop. Later alterations to a suit we made are handled case by case and are usually straightforward. Alterations to garments bought elsewhere are quoted separately after we have seen the piece, since the work varies enormously and quoting blind would mean quoting high. There is no charge for having a garment assessed at the shop, and we will tell you when a piece is not worth altering rather than taking the work.
Why are Bangkok tailoring prices so varied?
The spread comes almost entirely from things you cannot see from outside the garment: whether the jacket is canvassed or fused, how many fittings are included, and the quality of the lining and cloth. A quote far below the rest of the market usually indicates a fused jacket and a single fitting, which is a legitimate product but a different one. Compare what is included rather than the headline figure, and ask which canvas you are buying — it is the one part of a jacket you cannot inspect and cannot fix later.
